JOB SUMMARY:

Employee operates a variety of tooling equipment per standard operating procedures to construct quality, finished or refurbished machine parts from raw metal stock and/or used tooling.  Employee also performs teardown and installations of all production machinery at manufacturing facility.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School/GED Preferred
  • Tech/Vo Tech Training Certificate; Machining or Tool and Die Tech Certificate Preferred
  • One-to-Two (1-2) Years Demonstrated Machinist Experience Required

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess dependability to be consistently at work and on time with ability to work 40+ flexible schedule as required
  • Possess fundamental listening, verbal, and written communications skills to accurately follow directions
  • Possess functional mechanical knowledge to determine various tooling machine functions
  • Possess functional mathematical ability including knowledge of fractions and decimals to perform math calculations and measurement computing using tape measure and/or micrometers
  • Possess special and form perception with finger and manual dexterity to interpret blueprints and verify dimensions of machines parts and to perform machining operations
  • Possess ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, machinery and/or equipment
  • Possess a β€œTeam” mentality with a quality assurance/safety orientation mindset when handling raw steel materials, finished steel products, and performing machining operations
  • Possess repetitive standing and/or bending capability during normal phase duties
  • Possess effective communication skills to interact with management, co-workers, and outside vendors
  • Possess close visual acuity, near/far vision, and multiple limb coordination
  • Possess medium (up to 50 lbs) lifting capability while performing essential job duties
  • Possess repetitive standing, walking, and/or bending capability during normal phase duties
  • Mazak experience is a plus, but not required

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct a safety evaluation of work area prior to performing machinist actions.
  • Perform routine maintenance and machine setup actions as required throughout all phases of production.
  • Read/interpret technical drawings or prints for machining specifications.
  • Perform machine-tooling actions on conventional machine tools including, but not limited to, lathes, shapers, planers, and milling machines.
  • Perform machine tooling actions on various metal forming tools including grinders, saws, drilling and boring machines.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Perform machine(s), workstation, and surrounding area cleanup/housekeeping tasks, as required.
