The location in Kingsport, TN is seeking talent to fill the position of Reliability Superintendent. This position is part of the Kingsport Packaging Mill’s Maintenance & Engineering Team and plays a critical role in the overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. The Reliability Superintendent’s primary purpose is to lead the team of salary and hourly mechanical and electrical reliability employees to maintain and improve the mill’s asset base.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees day-to-day operations of salary reliability team, including but not limited to safety, scheduling, timekeeping, training / development, performance, appropriate behavior, coaching / counseling etc.
Develops and executes vision and strategy on asset reliability and performance improvement through reliability best practices.
Provides leadership, mentoring and training to all levels of the organization on the use and application of reliability practices and related tools.
Develops and drives key KPI’s to track reliability performance across the mill.
Coordinates equipment and facility maintenance / repairs with Operations and other key personnel to minimize downtime and ensure work is safely completed in a timely manner; On time, on spec, on budget.
Ensures the appropriate use of preventative and predictive technologies to drive the asset management strategy for the facility.
Resolves complex technical and/or repair issues; drives standardization of repair procedures and troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications
Minimum five (5) years reliability leadership experience; B.S. in Engineering
Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated strong leadership skills and experience leading a reliability team in a manufacturing facility to achieve excellent results
Ability to lead safety improvements through personal commitment and procedures; knowledge of industrial safety procedures and regulations
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and listening communication skills
Analytical, critical thinking, and proven problem-solving skills
Proven success building a successful team
Proficient planning, organization, and time-management skills
Results focused and detail oriented
Preferred Qualifications
Working degree of computer literacy, including computer-based maintenance software (SAP) and Microsoft Office
Knowledgeable in areas of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and reliability
Experience developing and managing predictive technology programs (including but not limited to vibration analysis, ultrasonic, motion amplification, PdMa (motor testing), and IR routes)
Experience developing and managing preventative technology programs (including but not limited to lubrication and essential care routes)
Experience in development and implementation of reliability training programs
Rotating equipment troubleshooting aptitude
Electrical equipment troubleshooting aptitude

Ability to efficiently and effectively lead reliability teams
Ability to effectively develop reliability employees
Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels within the mill
High degree of collaboration with both Maintenance and Operations personnel
Ability to interpret and apply principles of a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
