**Firmware Engineer Level I**

The candidate, as part of the firmware team, will design and develop embedded software and unit tests, review process and design documents, and perform code reviews for automation products. The Firmware Engineer works primarily on Functional Safety projects in the Research & Development organization reporting to the Functional Safety Firmware Manager.
**We are looking for a Firmware Engineer. This position is hybrid and will be located in Johnson City, TN.**
+ Perform complex embedded software design and development tasks.
+ Design subsystems.
+ Participate in requirement and design reviews.
+ Participate in code reviews of project firmware.
+ Design and implement unit tests with full path coverage.
+ Understand standards, specifications, and other documents to implement assigned tasks.
+ Work independently to resolve technical issues - including issue analysis and the preparation of reports.
+ Implement quality and process improvements.
+ Participate in the creation of project schedules and adhere to those schedules
**You'll win us over by having the following qualifications:**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ BS degree in STEM focus. If STEM degree is not in Computer or Engineering related degree, candidate must have 2+ years of overall professional experience in embedded firmware development.
+ 1+ years in embedded software development.
+ Proficiency in the C++ programming language and object-oriented design methodology.
+ Able to understand hardware / software interfaces.
+ Self-motivated and results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
+ Demonstrates good interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
+ 5% domestic and international travel.
**Preferred Knowledge & Skills:**
+ BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with demonstrated firmware development knowledge.
+ ARM architecture experience in a professional setting.
+ Basic knowledge of PROFINET is a plus.
+ Familiarity with Industrial Automation control systems, e.g., PLCs and engineering systems like Siemens TIA Portal - including Fundamental LAD and SCL language programming.
+ Able to proficiently operate typical electronic measurement and analysis lab equipment (for example, oscilloscope, meters, analyzers, power supplies).
+ Ability to understand schematics.
+ An understanding and adherence to practices defined in IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 is a plus.

The pay range for this position is $55,230 - $94,680 annually with a target incentive of 5% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
