Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Incumbent serves as Registered Behavioral Therapist for Support Solutions of the Mid-South (SSMS). SSMS is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, and has been approved by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to provide services under the Medicaid waiver.

The company provides supported living, day services, professional support services and other supports for persons with developmental disabilities. These types of supports are developed and provided in accordance with the Individual Support Plan (ISP) requirements and designated specifically for persons with intellectual disabilities and/or mental illness.

SSMS is subject to requirements of the Division of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) State of Tennessee, TennCare DMHIDD office of licensure and various other regulatory bodies. The incumbent is responsible for implementation of a successful and productive incident management program. Incident Management is designed to provide a comprehensive program that ensures the health, safety and protection from harm of all service recipients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Providing on-going behavioral services to referred SSMS, ECF supported persons as identified in the PCP and BSP
  2. Training direct support staff or unpaid caregivers to carry out the approved behavior support/maintenance plan developed by the behavior analyst or in conjunction with the behavior analyst;
  3. Implementing special components of the BSP or plans developed by the Behavior analyst to facilitate positive skill growth;
  4. Observing staff and supported persons behavior for correct implementation (reliability) of the behavior support/maintenance plan and completing retraining as needed;
  5. Observing supported person behavior to determine effectiveness of the behavior support/maintenance plan or crisis prevention plan and consulting with the behavior analyst when behavior support/maintenance or crisis prevention plan changes are needed; and
  6. Serving as the Registered Behavioral Therapist for SSMS and provides on-site assistance and training in a difficult or crisis situation with their designated individuals.
  7. Must be available when crisis situations develop and the Behavior Analyst is not available to intervene or offer assistance;
  8. Coordinating all behavioral restrictions for SSMS supported persons as identified in the ISP and BSP
  9. Maintaining a process for ensuring the follow-up of all behavioral health appointments for SSMS Supported Persons
  10. Ensuring the timeliness and quality of all documentation related to behavioral support services and ensures the accuracy of documentation respective to billing
  11. Maintaining effective customer relationships with state officials, MCOs, ISCs, supported persons and their families/conservators, SSMS employees and other behavioral support professionals
  12. Completing all tasks as assigned by the Director of Clinical Services and the Chief Executive Officer
  13. Maintaining personal training as required by DIDD and the MCOs

The Registered Behavioral Therapist is supervised by the Director of Behavioral Services or a designated Behavior Analyst. The Registered Behavioral Therapist will ensure open lines of communication among all key leaders within the organization but particularly with the Director of Behavioral Services.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  1. Exhibits behaviors and best practices that are consistent with the vision and values of SSMS.
  2. Practices safe work habits to eliminate and control potential safety and health hazards and to maintain a safe work environment. Attends all safety training as scheduled.
  3. Work as part of the team to ensure that SSMS Quality Management principles (Plan, Measure, Assess. Improve) are practiced and achieved.
  4. Operates SSMS and personal transportation in a safe and healthy manner.
  5. Performs other job related duties as may be assigned by designated and/or authorized staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A Registered Behavioral Therapist is a professional providing behavior services under the clinical supervision of a DIDD Approved Behavior Analyst, who has been approved to provide services through the Administrative Lead Agency and the Bureau of TennCare and who meets the following qualifications:

  • Completion of a high school degree or its equivalent.
  • Certification by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) as a Registered Behavioral Therapist (RBT).
  • If you do not have certification, the ability to take a 40 hour online course and pass all of the components, the ability to take the exam and to pass the competency assessment.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

  • Valid Tennessee, Mississippi or Arkansas Regular Driver License (CDL- if required for the position.)
