Job Description: Microbial Production Technician About the Position:

The Microbial Production Technician will support the fermentation process by assisting with the cultivation and harvesting of bacteria using pilot-scale fermenters and filtration equipment. This role is vital for ensuring efficient, high-quality production in a controlled environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and sterilize media for fermentation processes.
  • Operate and maintain pilot-scale fermenters (>100L) and filtration equipment.
  • Follow manufacturing batch records and standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately.
  • Clean and maintain production facilities and equipment to ensure a sanitary environment.
  • Maintain detailed equipment logbooks in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Dispense raw materials with precision.
  • Assist with Biological Research & Development (R&D) activities as needed.
  • Provide biological product samples for testing and analysis.

Job/Education Qualifications/Skills:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Operations, or Industrial Operations Certificate preferred.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of industrial experience with basic mechanical skills preferred. Hands-on experience with large-scale fermenters (>100L) or pharmaceutical production equipment is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Experience with fermentation, autoclaves, or pharmaceutical/food & beverage processing is advantageous.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Other: Strong organizational skills and ability to adhere to detailed instructions.
