PRIMARY PURPOSE
This employee provides loan documentation preparation and processing services to the Bank’s commercial and consumer lending staff. This employee is responsible for the origination of loan documents for primarily consumer loans and small business commercial and real estate loan originated within both the commercial and consumer areas. This employee will work within an established quality control function to ensure that all loan document origination is accurate and compliant with applicable state and federal regulations prior to loan funding. This employee assists lenders and loan assistants with loan documentation origination, providing counsel and training on documentation and applicable software platforms. Performance of the duties requires excellent attention to detail, organizational, and computer proficiency skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides quality control review for banking staff ensuring loan documentation is accurate and compliant with legal and regulatory guidelines prior to loan funding.
2. Originates consumer and small business loan documentation for banking staff as required per legal and regulatory guidelines based on the type of credit. Employee will obtain detailed consumer non-real estate loan information via transmission through the Bank’s consumer underwriting model or verbally as needed.
3. Reviews real estate legal title work, UCC searches, and other similar types of documents to assist banking staff in ascertaining whether the required lien priority is being obtained. Employee will be proficient in providing all lien perfection documentation as required on all non-real estate secured loans as well.
4. Provide counsel and assistance to Banking staff regarding documentation, compliance issues, troubleshooting on documents, attorney statements and lending software platforms, etc. as necessary.
5. Onboard new loan requests from loan documentation system to the Bank’s core system.
6. Attends training, and performs other learning exercises as deemed prudent to stay proficient in the position as described.
7. Employee will need to communicate directly with outside vendors (attorneys and title companies) to work through loan documentation issues in order to provide accurate loan documentation.
8. Absorbs additional loan documentation processing to cover for absences in the banking staff.
9. Regularly refresh knowledge of and familiarity with online, mobile, electronic and traditional products and services. Regularly practice/rehearse customer conversation and engagement skills around the entire suite of New Peoples Bank products and services. Invite customer respect by demonstrating product and service knowledge and engaging customers around the benefits of using them.
10. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited high school or General Educational Degree (GED) required, two years of college with an Associate degree in Business or related field preferred with 3-5 years of general loan experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
KEY COMPETENCIES
-Knowledge and familiarity with diverse loan documentation instruments, collateral valuations, borrower types, entity structures, and other matters relevant to the legal documentation of a credit.
-Knowledge of lending policy & procedures and state and federal regulations.
-A general knowledge of the necessary processes and procedures, legal or otherwise, supporting the perfection of various types of liens.
-Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
-Ability to present ideas and information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, vendors, contractors, the general public, customers, and local, state, and federal officials; ability to communicate with people from a broad range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
-Ability to maintain moderately complex files, records, and reports.
-Ability to apply analytical reasoning and problem-solving techniques
-Knowledge of computer software and operations to include Microsoft Office, BakerHill, TruStage, and Director Client.
