Position Title: Equipment Technician
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Department: Grounds/ Golf Maintenance
Reports to: Head Mechanic, Superintendent, or other Department Manager or Director

General Purpose:

The Equipment Technician performs a variety of mechanical repairs, routine maintenance tasks, and equipment servicing for motorized equipment used throughout the property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overhauls and repairs maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment, and other power equipment.
  • Lubricates and services all equipment.
  • Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and performs routine adjustments.
  • Maintains current knowledge of hydraulic systems and their components.
  • Inspects, changes, and repairs tires.
  • Assists in managing tool access and use by maintenance staff.
  • Cleans work areas after completing repairs.
  • Supports fabrication, body repair, and painting projects.
  • Adjusts cutting units on mowing equipment.
  • May assist the maintenance crew or operate mowing equipment when not performing mechanical work.
  • Assists in training maintenance staff in the proper care and upkeep of golf course equipment.
  • May be required to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Follows all established safety protocols and promotes a safe work environment.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required. Certificate from a college or technical school preferred. Three to six months of related mechanical experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequently stands, walks, uses hands, and reaches with arms.
  • Frequently stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Occasionally sits, climbs, or balances.
  • Regularly communicates verbally.
  • Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather-related), extreme temperatures, and around toxic or caustic materials.
  • May be exposed to vibration, airborne particles, or fumes.
  • Works regularly in outdoor weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts.
  • May face the risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level is generally loud.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Mechanics Certificate from a Gas and Diesel Engine Training Seminar preferred.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English may be required, particularly for safety protocols, equipment manuals, and communication with team members.
